About Us

The Weill Cornell Street Medicine Clinic is a free community-based clinic staffed by volunteer physicians and run by volunteer medical students affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College that provides high-quality care for patients experiencing homelessness (PEH) and food insecurity in New York City. Our clinic is located in East Harlem's New York Common Pantry, an organization that has built strong structures of trust with PEH and food insecurity across NYC and offers connections to widespread social resources and care. Our clinic aims to integrate medical care with social, emotional, and physical support systems, with the ultimate goal of fostering housing stability for our patients.

Mission Statement

To foster a free medical clinic that provides high quality care for people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, that is deeply ingrained in systems of established social care, and that prioritizes the needs and voices of our patients above all else.

Purpose

  • To build trust with our patients, many of whom have faced medical neglect or trauma
  • To establish an accessible, safe, and no-cost outlet for our patients to access medical care
  • To support our patients in seeking long term continuous care with primary care and specialist providers that they can trust
  • To individualize social and medical care plans to each of our patient’s lived experiences and goals
